The thing just isn't minding me the way I want it to. I already stuck it in a corner and "grounded" it...but it still chooses to grow big gains only when IT wants to, not when I tell it to. lol I'm still optimistic on it's future, it grew 3" last night but not as good as the early gains it had prior to surgery from the borers. I believe I was watering too much as well. You learn a lot from experience in your first year growing these things. Okie, you said it best..expect the unexpected. I'll be proud if I end up with a 150-200 pounder, I don't need the monster some of you guys are growing....yet. Todays measurement is just under 35 inches. Anybody out there with knowledge on how many lbs per inch of growth in this stage?

Once you hit 41cc you are looking at about 2 lb per inch at that stage. That is as low as the chart goes. At 80cc, you are looking at about 5 lb per inch.

Thanks orangeneck. Excellent info. My boy is not minding because he is still ill, two more vine borers in the second runner close to the stump. A diligent eye is needed to keep these things at bay. My season is hangin' on the edge.
