should i remove the leaf that originates from the same junction as the pumpkin stem? as my pumpkin grows, the shoulders rub on the leaf stem. also, should i remove the side vine that grows from the same junction as the pumpkin stem?

Most people will remove all from that area! Do it now so it has time to heal. Rub some fungicide on the cuts and trim off the excess flesh so it is even with the main vine..you don't want to leave rotten vegetation near the stem...keep it dry too so it heal nice and make sure your pumpkin is perpendicular to vine and you cut your tap roots...the leaf stem will also scratch the pumpkin...remove tendril too...

take hot water insulation tubing, cut 4 -6 inch section, and wrap it around leaf stalk. keep that big shade leaf and no scratches in the shoulders. peter
