I have been giving mine about 25-30 gallons a day, is there such a thing as too much?

If you keep the ground saturated too much you can cause disease problems like pythium.

Think of it this way. Above the ground is where the plants make their food (photosynthesis). Below the ground is where they breathe. If there is no air, because the ground is full of water...
You get the picture.

to much water causes foaming stumps at the vey least. plus of course many soil born diseases.

if you take some earth from a few inches below the surface and can compress the soil into a ball that stays that way when you open your hand? you dont need to water,

id also avoid saturating the base even when you must water,

How big is the plant in square feet? Our plants require 100 gallons each when it's dry & even that isn't enough.

400 sq ft plant will require 250 gallons water to deliver 1 inch. During hot weather 1.5 inches per week is good so 370 gallons per 400 sq ft plant isn't unreasonable during extended dry spells.

pap says it better than anyone. You're better off *feeling* the soil.
