I am already planning for next year and want to expand my number of vines. I don't have enough space, but my neighbor does. Before I approach him, I was wondering if anyone else has rented space for a patch and what might be a good rate to offer. I was thinking in terms of 20 x 30 feet per vine, maybe 3 or 4 vines total. How much would that be worth? I would run water and power over from my place. I would have to amend the soil, which would ultimately stay there, of course.
All suggestions for a fair amount to offer would be appreciated. Tx.

Does he share your interest in growing AG's? Offer a partnership if he does. Split the costs and you provide the labor.

If the ground is lying fallow, then most friendly neighbors are happy to let you use it. Usually, the biggest challenge is watering the plants. The next biggest issue is bringing in stinky manure....if the ground is close to his house. Remember, it usually takes about two years to get average soil optomized for growing...unless you have a "thick wallet".

I`m almost in the same position as you are every year. I have to plant at a neighbors field. No eletric/water plus the field was growing in weeds. I try to give a pumpkin or squash maybe both for a display at there farmers market plus a couple eat out gift cards do the job for now. They may not even want money. Just ask....you never know what they might say.

Maybe grow some veggies that he likes, and use that as payment?

I put an add on Craigslist and a guy nearby offered up a space for free. He even does the tilling for me and provides water. Maybe I got very lucky, but its worth a try.
