We have two pumpkins chosen and pollinated on all 4 of our pumpkin plants. It has happened in the past that something has gone wrong and none of the pumpkins chosen made it. Is it prudent to keep pollinating past the chosen pumpkins just incase? What do you do?

I've had fruit abort at volleyball size for no apparant reason. I'd keep setting fruit for a little while more. It's better to cull out ones you wont keep than to find out the horses you bet on won't leave the gate and it's now too late to put your money on another with any hope of it being a winner. You said yourself you had this happen in the past, what's happened before can happen again.

Yep, pollenate one or more extras just in case. I have a few right now that gave me excellent secondary sets, but I will cull in a heartbeat if the main (and so far they have come through on main, just took their time) comes through. The one I have right now at 15 days, I just set another several feet down the main in case... and I don't terminate main at fruit unless there's stem stress issues AND I'm definitely going with that set.

Thanks again for the help. I'll keep all that in mind!
