Subject: flower on leaf

I have never seen this before, a short male flower growing off the side of a leaf stem just below the leaf itself. There is a pic in my diary http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=110908

Looks like a 'wires crossed' where the stem of the leaf is trying to be a vine. Look at the leaf cluster coming up with the flower. Trim it off as it's a defect... and save the plant trying to put energy into that whole thing.

OkieGal is right. We have had that happen on a few of our plants in several locations and they turned out fine.
