I bought some Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer to protect against SVB's. I later found that I should have bought tree and shrub. The active ingredients in Bayer Advanced Complete are as follows: Imidacloprid.....0.72% B-Cyfluthrin.....0.36% Other............98.92%
So...can I mix this at a more concentrated level (say, double or triple strength) to increase the active ingredient percentages without burning up my plants?

I did the same thing here, and have the same question. I'm guessing the Imidacloprid is fine at a higher rate, not sure about the other.
Also, i'm guessing from the name, but does anyone else know if the B-Cyfluthrin is closely related to lambda cyhalothrin?

Morbid, instead of chancing it as a drench, take it back(if they take chemicals back?) and get the tree and shrub. You might be ok to use it as a drench but not exactly sure,,, I myself wouldn't chance using it as a drench, because if that was the case and you could use Bayer Advance Complete the same way you use the tree and shrub , then they probably wouldn't have made both brands and just went with one?? (not sure though) Id hate to see ya chance it and burn up a plant if you dont have to.

Andy, they are both pyrethroid insecticides, pretty much the same.

Always use at the recommended strength. Maybe Tremor can chime in....

Bonide makes a tree and shrub product that is basically the same as Bayer Tree and Shrub. Same percetnage of Imadacloprid. It is about $4 cheaper than Bayer around here.

I decided to sacrifice a side vine on my pollenator plant to experiment with. I mixed up a batch of triple strength and sprayed a few leaves with a heavy coat last night at 9PM (7/4/09). If all goes well I would think a double strength mixture should be ok for the whole plant. Andy,I'll post updates after a day or two of exposure to the sunny weather.

We sell pallets of cyfluthrin under the trade name Tempo SC Ultra mostly to arborists especially for controlling ticks & some for caterpillars. It's very fast & has fairly good residual but is no longer used much for agriculture in the US.
Some people suffer from a skin sensitization to Tempo. It never bothered me until I got hit straight on the face with concentrate. Now I get the sweats whenever I mix the stuff. I won't buy any more once this bottle is gone.
Search these other trade manes to learn more: Baythroid, Baythroid H, Attatox, Contur, Laser, Responsar, Solfac, Tempo, Tempo H, Tempo WP, & Tempo SC Ultra.

Thank you; I'm sorry, but I haven't been able to find, by internet search, what concentration of the "Bayer Tree and Shrub" to use to kill borers in giant squash; what concentration are people using? - the bottle doesn't indicate; it has either for trees, shrubs, or potted plants. And are 2 treatments a month apart what's done?
Thanks so much.
