All I have ever done is when the pumpkin is about basketball size I trim it because I know it has pollinated and is taking. Does anyone grow the secondary, or just trim the secondary right away? Ive got a good one down about 17 feet or so!

if your refering to the secondary vine that grows out from main in the same area as the fruit them yes, trim that or it will get in the way as the fruit grows.

I'd wait until you know it's a keeper. 17 feet holy cow.
