What can I do to bring these plants back?

treat the plant just as you would if there were no hail damage. theres not much you can do if you were already taking good care of the plants before the hail.
letting more plant grow than you normaly would certainly is an option and one i would do.

also should any third stage growth show up along with the second stage off the main?, consider letting that grow as well. depends on how bad your hail damage was.

If the leaves are shredded but the vines are okay than in two weeks you won't even know anything happened. These plants are resiliant.

milford, CT,

Adam..we got hit pretty good down here also..If there are going to be any voids in the leaf canopy due to broken secondaries let some of the tertiaries grow to fill in those areas. My thinking is get as many sq ft of vine and leaf canopy as I can salvage. If you are like me my plants are only about 25 % filled out so there is still plenty of plant to grow in to support the fruit. Hope this helped a little..Mark

Adam,

If you have any CAN & nothing ready to pollinate - hit'em real easy. The N will only last about a week. Other than that just fungi's.

Was there anything set yet?

Some of my early plants had a couple good ones going other than that my four fall plants are still small, maybe 10' mains. Sorry guys I am not Adam, although his handle is pretty similar 'big wheels', I am big moon A.K.A. John Ciesielski. What should I do about the ones with pumpkins? I finally got the courage to go out and look today. The pumpkins are still growing. As soon as I figure out how to download pictures. I will. I am having trouble with my new computer which is a Mac. I don't know how to use it. LOL The storm was bad, I can't imagine a hailstorm worse than this. I still had small piles of hail on the south side of a building 24 hours after the storm. (it was sunny all day. I wish I were sandbagging, but believe me I am not.

Hi John,

I saw the news last hight YIKES! Even the GHO got rattled. LOL...Trees flying around...Has a tornado been ruled out yet?

With pumpkins? I would keep slipping a low, soluble N into the water & keep an eye out for root diseases what with all the rain thats been falling.
