I have searched but decided I will try posting new instead.
My plants have started flagging the last couple days but only the last 2-3 feet of the mains are it seems.
I find it weird how it is only the last couple feet of the mains and not most of the plants.
I will mist here in the early afternoon, but after 130pm, i am at work and can no longer mist anymore.
Could it be because the last couple days have been 80+ degrees and the newer growth on the mains have not seen sun yet?
I also have noticed some of these wilted leaves are getting burned quick.
Should i cut them off now if they are burned or let them go until they are totally burned and then cut them?

Hi. This is happening to me also. The temps are in the 90`s here and the newer leaves are wilting. They are very tender at this stage and will tend to suffer more than the more established ones. I would leave them on and maybe think about some shading. Misting will help also. It would probably be a good idea to try and save them especially if your plant is quite small.
Just my opinion as always.
Good luck Pete

They do not have taproots yet at that stage.

Jeremy....this is common due to no root structure (no water uptake) with this part of the plant. You can put a chair over the leaves or basket to help. Misting should help too.

Jeremy, I use a small inexpensive beach umbrella when this is an issue...seems to work OK and shades the newer growth till it can toughen up.

I think misting would be a better idea I would not want to block out sun which will fuel the plant.

covering one foot of vine with a slight shade structure will not inhibit growth

Break out the resin lawn chair, for shading that last bit. You can always put a concrete block on the seat. Umbrellas here tend to end up in the next county...

ok, i will use plastic chairs at each end of the main vines.....roughly how long should it take for the leaves to toughen up enough to not need shade?
I didnt expect this many replys to this post, thanks everyone for the responses and for the emails those sent me.

Big lots stores have umbrellas for 8$ ea i like to shade the ends of plants , Mostly when it goes from cold days to hot days are plants most effected, after a week of hot days they get more used to the heat, but protection will help for not getting burnt leaves !!
