Normally I would cut a female with deformed lobes and not even bother, since I am usually growing for looks. But this pumpkin on my 1343 will be for weight only.
What is the biggest pumpkin you have grown off deformed lobes? Does anybody grow out these types?

1528 pounds. Thad Starr's pumpkin last year head seeds in the lobe and he almost didn't pollinate it.

Wayne, like not symmetrical. I expect a round pattern with uniform size and shape, lobes curled in. These lobes were sticking all up in the air and not exactly in identical fashion. Didn't see any seeds though.

my 1147 last year had twisted lobes so bad i really couldn't tell you for sure how many it had. 5 lobes with a deformed half of a sixth lobe, or like a snarl tooth sticking out sideways. it was grown on the 1041 and i never had a problem with the pumkin all season long and went 15 percent heavy. it would have been pruned if earlier on the plant, but at 16' i had to go with anything i could and glad i stayed with it.
