I have looked at many older diarys and noticed that some people take their wind protection down sometime in July.
Why is this and is it a necessity to take it down?
I am using the 3' high black silt fence you fin at home depot with the stakes attached......

Hi Jeremy, I personally have done both. I have left my wind protection up thru out the season, this year I am planning on removing mine as soon as i can get most secondaries buried about 3-4 ft out. I do leave my main protection- snow fence up all season. I think if your plants are approaching your barrier, it is good for them to breathe also, confined too much could bring disease. I think it is a personal preference but like anything in this hobby one persons success isn't everyones. Hope I have helped in any way, Have a great season and have fun! :)

I grow in windtunnel, windbreak is needed the whole season to prevent beat up leaves, bent and broken stalks, and vine damage. It depends on your average weather. Here wind and airflow and air circulation are not issues... other than too much!
Jeremy, use it if you need it, as long as you need to.

I use snowmobile fencing plastic. I hope that will suffice.
It seems to allow enough wind to keep the plants dry, and does not block it all together.
It does slow it down a bit, but it is not exactly "blocking" it.
