Try both and see which one seems to grow the best. Is the split along the vine (which is not so bad) or across (which is)?

My best plant has a good 4 or 5 inch split, along the vine. So far, the vine beyond the split is continuing to grow just fine. It's going to be a challenge to keep water out of the split, however.

Jed, does cracked, mean across the vine? Split, I assume would mean lenghtwise, but not sure about cracked?? I agree with Wpm, pollinate everything, wait and see!!! Peace, Wayne
