I just caught my first SVB in a trap today. I have a quick question for all of you long time growers; I just sprayed with Seven on Saturday. Of course it rained Sunday like it has every other day for the past three weeks. Is it too soon to spray again or should I just spray the leaf stems? Also, what should I be looking for pertaining to SVB damage since I have buried all of the vines?
Advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

WAIT TIL NEXT YEAR

So. Maine

They will lay eggs on the leaf stems, whatever is exposed . I'd say spray again IF you don't have rain coming again soon.

Spotted one in the patch last night. Tried to direct spray it, but took off on me. They are here too! Dang, a nice hard down pour on Saturday, nice afternoon Sunday and wham SVB out in the patch lurking last night.

Side note Sevin does not work on SVBs.

Thanks all. What's the best chemical for controlling SVB's?

Warrior T or Talstar One.. Both work like a charm here.

Thetman, you need to step up your spray program to either Warrior T (Triazicide), Talstar (Bifen IT) or Merit 75WP. Or better yet a combination of some or all. Shoot me an email at [email protected] I'm not far from you and curious how your patch is doing. Jim

Warrior T has been replaced by Warrior II. It is also restricted (you need a license to purchase) and costs around $300 per gallon. Any of the pyrethrins will do the job such as Cyonara(Lambda cyhalothrin) or Trizicide(Gamma cyhalothrin). Forget Sevin.

Well, I am back from the store and have myself a nice supply of Talstar One and Triazicide. Going in the patch today. Thanks to all for the advice.
Orangeneck, I'll drop you an e-mail.
