Don't give up.
You may not be chasing the World Record, you may be chasing your state record, and the fair may be even a long shot, but come october you may still have a nice Jack-O-lantern for the kids.

Yea, I had enough, cant stand the pressure of trying to grow bigger pumpkins then my buddies on here...
Not only are these plants full of vitamins and are good for you,, but I have one of the best broccoli plants I have ever seen, its growing about 03. cm a week, its a beast of a seedling at about a half inch tall,,, who needs them dumb pumpkins when you can grow broccoli plants like I can. And I hated broccoli as kid. I might even throw in a couple beet plants and give them a 1000 sq ft of growing room per plant.

my tenant decided to cut the lawn last night and I guess he thought that big plant over in the corner of the garden was a huge weed and lawn mowed it down - now onto plant #2!

Yeah, I'm pretty much done. Plants are small. 3 hail storms and cold weather stunted my plants to the point that they are at least a month behind. With that said I'm still confident that I can get pretty decent ones to carve. That is the beauty of growing for color.

I went out and have two aborts, this is not being fun anymore.
Just went and got some coolers, the tube of liquid nails and one of silicone. I'm gonna make some custom incubation rooms here for getting that girl to do it right; hubby has some squirrelcage fans I can add on and a powersupply I can borrow. I wanted to try to pollenate EARLY because it was too hot last year and it's too hot already.
I'm not giving up until the trickortreaters show up. [any grower doing a sneak patch visit with a trick or treat bag in July is going to do penance weeding, June the get to run spading fork, Aug... probably vine burying]

I've been away from this board for too long, lol!
I've also heard it all before. My good friend and main rival here always comes up with something like, "I'm going to Africa for three weeks. If anything is still alive after that, oh well." Or, "Everything froze! All my plants are 70% dead!" Etc, etc... He still manages to beat me every year!
You're going to survive. These plants have amazing "comeback" ability.

Child support? You wanna pay for all the stuff I've lavished onto Bob???? Ohhhkay! I'll print up that invoice and send it to ya, should fit in a flat rate 9x12x8" deep priority mail box. :D
Gonna hold the washing machine's hand, found out I have a cold water inlet problemo then go work on patch. Took me five hours to figure out the machine wasn't finishing because the water dropped to a trickle. I know there's more females a-growin out there, just have to find'em, bag'em, and do the deed again (YES! beep beep, it finally finished!)

A little behind last year. Not giving up though. Had a patch visitor today. Fellow grower from just down the road a piece(20 miles). Rich gave me some good advice and words of encouragement.
As long as the # on the scale is higher than last year, I will consider my season a success and push on next year to raise my own bar again!
With that said, see ya'll in the fall!
