As a side dressing........OR composted separately......

In my gardening dayZ...I always used my lawn clippings as a side dressing to keep out all weeds and bring in the worms.....

IZ thiZ a WiZe thing to do under pumpkinZ.....??

you can smoke some and it wont hurt your plants ---lol, but id be carefull packing it fresh around your plants. could be inviting disease as it decomposes.
i would not do it.

I've seen grass clippings used in 2 patches. Both those patches are no longer in use due to disease.

Thing with fresh grass is it gets got real hot. it has burnt a few of my plants but i use it.

Is free cools the soil down after it heats it upm lol

WiZ, using grass clippings WILL keep the weeds down. They DO heat up. Don't know about the disease problems. But the main reason I quit using them is they matt down. And when it does rain, the rain runs off instead of soaking down.
You are much better off composting the clippings then adding them to your patch in the fall and tilling them in.

I found that if you use grass clippings as a thin mulch, they can hold in moisture and supress weeds. If you spread the clippings out and let them dry before applying them they won't heat up so much and burn the plants. They may get moldy, which could be a problem. This year I am using grass clippings on a patch that was pumpkins last year, tomatoes, peppers and eggplants this year. They will get tilled in this fall for organic matter.

Thanks all for the comments.....Ill tell BiZ to stop using grass around hiZ plantZ so when they start getting weird diseases he will know what cauZed it........BIZ!
