just figured i would through out the reminder to keep an eye out on your stumps with all the rain many have been getting lately. look for any fissures that might need addressing with captan or a fungicide of choice to prevent any place for rot to get set up on. older leaves with higher winds will sometimes crack right at the vine and leave fissures too. or old places where you pruned of the rear mains will someimes fissure as the stump gets larger or leave a small depression for water to pool in. and the stump sometimes has small cracks develope from growing fast that are more surface than deep, but also prime places for pooling water to rest on and rot spores to develope. i will be doing some pruning of older beat up leaves this week growing on and around the stump and addressing the pruned areas with captan. i just want to remove enough of the beat up leaves to make enough room to place a small white plastic patio table over my stumps to keep them dry from all the misting the plants will be getting during the 90 degree heat this week.

all of our recent stump foaming issues seem to show up in august, when the plant is under extreme stress to grow that monster.
good advise from shazzy as well.
