I have 7 plants in the ground this year, which is no small adventure since it's my first year trying this. Three AG's and 4 Prizewinner varieties. One AG is pushing 8' vine length and you can almost watch it grow. The other 2 are paired on one hill and not doing as good, probably 5' each, and I probably shoula culled one.
I don't know what to expect from the prizewinners...ie, how long the vines will be, how far out to pollenate. For now, I'm treating them as they were AG's. The plants are growing quickly and all 4 are about 5-6' right now with huge leaves and lotsa males.
My plants are in the front yard and not fenced in (yet). I live in the woods and have only one small spot to plant. Last night I did a little vermin controll and ridded my patch of two twin groundhogs. Momma is still around but her days are numbered.
One thing's for sure, this pumpkin stuff is a lot of work! I'm not gonna let my plants get molested by critters!
