Ok I know a majority of people are growing the 1156 Hunt but for the sake of the 1600 # challenge if you are growing 1 or all 3 of these seeds chime in and give an update on how your plant or plants are doing. My 1184 is doing real well for me so far I have had females coming on already at about 12 ft out. So by pollination time I could have one at 15 -18 ft out with plenty of plant behind it. Be affaid Phil and Joe be very affraid. LOL!! Yea I know alot of salad doesn't equal a biggin but it sure feels good so far.

Ron, The surgery for the double vine issue was a sucess. It has started to grow "normal" now. I have that vine growing along with another strong secondary. Those are the only two vines growing so I'm going to try something new this year. I'm going to grow them in a wish-bone pattern. Hopefully, all will work out!

Hi Ron
We are afraid. The cold weather has been a real problem here in Canada & on the East Coast. We got 3 frosts here in the 1st week in June. Most Ont growers are behind. That being said, Jane's 1156 is @ 8-9', with 5' secondaries. She should be able to pollinate by early July @ the 12-14' mark. I've heard of a couple 1156's that are over 12' now, but most are behind because of the cold temps. Hopefully we'll get an extended summer in Sept.
Come on fellow GVGOers, the club is counting on you to help us win this contest against two of the other top clubs in the pumpkin community. Our pride is at stake here, so we're counting on you to rise to the challenge. Good luck everyone & thanks for participating in our little challenge.

All our plants are way behind. The 1156 was really stressed by the cold weather and I almost pulled the plant. I'm very glad now that I didn't as it has really bounced back and although behind, a very nice plant. I believe with the heat we expect next week, we should be able to pollinate in early July.

Hi Ron, My first 1184 did not germinate, started a second one and it has flat vined. sounds almost identical to Mark's having cut it back to where it has two small side vines. Oh well that's part of the game.

My 1156 got leveled by high winds knocking over my hoop house early May. I supported it up with stakes expecting the worse, but it took off. 1156 & 1413 best plants so far.
