Looking for local growers who are interested in promoting our sport during the up and coming State Fair in Pueblo CO last part of August.....
I was contacted by the Colorado Dept of Agriculture who want to feature our extreme growing......
Should be fairly easily to talk pumpkins to the 400,000 Folks who might walk by about growing BIG......
We are to have a booth with some Giant Vegetables on display....or some that were growing to that potential....
Looking for local growers who would like to help, and also any ideas from folks on this site on displays and ideas on how best to represent our sport to the public.....Giving away seeds, advertising the up and coming weigh off events, Pictures, posters, even needing some GPC advice...Sounds like a fun time.....
Please post your ideas here or contact me......I need your help!
If you are Growing Outside....then you are Growing Inside....

This is the kind of ideas we are looking for.....ideas to help promote the growing sport....
No weigh off at the Fair...but letting them know those start in 30 days.....itZ gonna be hard to cut one off for the fair but from what I gather this is kinda of the same for other fairs too....IZ it not?
Not just pumpkins either...giant Pear gourds, sunflowers, all types of giant vegetables....a start to something BIG.....

The Vermont growers did a booth at our fair last year. The fair does have a weigh off so folks are used to seeing the giants each year. We staffed the booth on the two weekends the fair was open and 3 out of 5 nights. It was a lot of fun and we got a ton of inquiries about the hobby. We also sold a few packets of seeds and memberships. Here is a link to the booth...... http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=94599

Another idea, if you have access to Electricity is to have one of the many videos playing on a TV. This would attract people. Even a video of nothing but weigh offs results.

The only way to get people excited is to show them a huge pumpkin. So figure out which one of Biz's pumpkins is growing at a record pace, cut it off the vine, and take it down to Pueblo. People will be excited!
