What is a good spacing do have in between secondary vines?

Right now mine are growing every 12-18" and are about 2-3' long

I know some people cut off every other one, but less leaves = smaller fruit, right?

UnkaDan

that's good spacing

the newest trend is to leave as many secondary vines as possible,,more vines = more leaves and roots

And more roots means better nutrition and better hold during the winds.

I've heard that the leaves get larger when every other secondary is pruned off. Maybe the larger leaves will make up for the fewer leaves.

its far better to keep most secondaries so long as they have decent spacing between each.
once in a while i take one out if its to close to another.

sometimes s--t happens as we all should know.
a lot of people like the every other secondary because it helps reduce the spred of disease ,etc, when the leaves do not touch. --- there are ample sprays available though that can aid in this area.

with a full set of sides it does not hurt as bad later in the season if you should loose a vine or two.
