I inquired to various members of the he Federation of European Mycorrhizal Fungi Producers to get on outsiders opinion. -----------------------
Thank you for your email.
I find your email of interest as PlantWorks was itself set up to redress the balance of poor quality inoculum - mainly imported from the States in 2001.
The European producers 'network' through a funded EU action groups called COST. These brings together producers, end user etc to present papers and act as a discussion point. In 2005 the producers recognized that standards would one day develop that would seek to control the industry and these would likely emerge from the EU. We decided at this time to form a federation of mycorrhizal fungi producers and develop a protocol for quality that we would adhere to and test each other products against . The objective being to establish a stringent QA process that we would promote to the EU over time.... -----------
I think the likely outcome of the low spore counts in many American products will be regulation. Growers deserve to get a product that can that reproduce results from trials and studies on the affects of mycorrhizae.

This is an interesting topic.
For growers like myself who do not know what to look for to ensure we're buying a quality product are there certain disclosure that are required or "should" be made to us?
Should we request that a supplier to give us an spore count that is tested by an independent third party? Do such tests exist and what is a "reasonable" amount to look for?
Also, I'm confused about the types of mycorrhizal that benefit pumpkins. Which types should we ensure we're buying?
