It seems to get louder every year.. "You spend too much time out in that pumpkin patch! I sure hope that you don't grow again next year. You need to take a year off!
You told me that you weren't going to grow so many this year....ect., ect., ect."

Sorry Stan, I'm still working on getting internet access in the patch. Thanks for your concern.

My husband asks: How long are you going to grow them things? I just smile and cook a good dinner and all is well. Altho he doesnt understand he is behind me 100%, I couldnt ask for more.

Weekly flowers during the growing season would be a good thing. I know if the roles were reversed for me it would work every week. And heck, they know where to find out out in the patch! At least your at home!

I think you should man-up and tell her how you really feel and then put your foot down about your plans for the summer, finishing the season without her complaints.

In the meantime, we will be trying to find a place closeby in Washington where you, your clothes and all your ferts&chemicals (that will be sitting in the driveway) can stay for a few months until she cools down.

I liberally bribe my punkin-widower; frequently and often. Food goes a long ways with him.... He already knows I can peg him with a 1' tall weed with dirt on the roots, tossing over my shoulder and 20' behind me, without looking. (Just aim for the noise :) ) [he was very impressed I weeded the patch completely yesterday AND the front yard too]

Internet to patch is easy, just go wifi.... but make sure to secure your hub.

Guys, flowers do help, but male pumpkin bloom culls only goes over ONCE a season...maybe. Better stick to those other kinds of flowers. Chocolate works too.

Stan,
I always tell the Mrs. that I don't smoke, I don't drink to excess, I don't gamble (except with which seed to plant), I don't chase skirts and she ALWAYS knows where I am. What more could a wife expect?
Lee
BTW, we always go for a quick vacation in late October.

Welcome to the wired world, Pat. I have a form of a local LAN in my patch to deal with sensors and controls... I refuse to pipe cable out there to those spoiled vines!

My hubby does have a girlfriend, our dog. She goes everywhere with him, I draw line at her sleeping on the bed with him because she's a tickmagnet this year... sigh.

Indeed, most of our SO (suffering others) should be happy to know where we're at and what we're doing... weeding, worrying, watering, sweating, and early morning pumpkin porn. Hehehhe

I have done a lovely arrangement with purple iris, red roses, white baby's breath, and yellow male pumpkin flower culls. The males have to be replaced daily though.... you might get away with that one once.

“Do you need a second pump sprayer?”
“Should I turn the mister on today?”
“We’ve really got to get out there and weed.”
“Aren’t you going to put a fan on that vine split?”
Uck, nag, nag, nag. I hear you Stan.
