It with great saddness to tell you that I lost my best friend last night. Andrew Myhal was a gentle man of 48 who is survived my his beautiful wife Jennifer and three sons, Lucas 16, Jacob 14 and Benjamin 7. He died suddenly at home, and we are not sure of the cause, it may have been an annurism. Jen and the boys will need my full support this week and over the next while, so this hobby will take a back seat for now.

Take care..

Bryan

Goodwood

Our deepest condolences to all. This is such awful sad news that has hit our small community of Goodwood extremely hard. Andrew was my sons teacher this year and also taught my daughter five years ago. He was a fantastic teacher and I always held the highest respect for him. He made his classes fun and was the most amazing math teacher who really cared for the kids. It is a tremendous loss to Goodwood Public School, the children, teachers and parents will miss him dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts, they are very much appreciated.

The family is holding up pretty good right now, they have alot of support from the community, which is so great to see.

Laurie, it is so nice to know someone else on this site knew Andrew, he was an amazing teacher who was loved by all the students he taught over years, and it is a great loss for the school, his friends and his loving family. I appreciate your kind words, and hope to meet you later in the week if you are planning to attend the funeral.

Thanks to all again..

Bryan

Uxbridge,

Our family knew Andrew as well and we are deeply shocked and saddened by his sudden passing. My son was a goalie with Lucas and knows him very well. I worked at Goodwood Public School this past Friday and I sat in the library and listened to Andrew teach his kids. He was fabulous with those kids and the kids really loved him. Goodwood Public School has lost a piece of its soul and so has Uxbridge. I will really miss his sense of humour and his huge heart. Thanks, Susan Blakeley

Goodwood

Hi Bryan,
Yes my son (Ryan) and I will both be attending the funeral as will many, many others. It was a sad day at the school this morning...very somber mood by all. Not one of the children in his class spoke going into the portable. They managed to make it through the day and had grief counselers there which seemed to help. Yesterday some of the boys got together and were talking and it was amazing to hear the stories that came out of these fine young men. I am so very proud of all of them and how they are handling this, and with such respect for Andrew and all he has done for each of them. Andrew would be extremely proud of each and every one of them...

I am also a parent of 2 children that Mr.Myhal taught. There will be a very big void at Goodwood Public School and allot of very sad people.Mr. Myhal was a teacher that you could approach and he was always there to help if needed. In my opinion , he was one of the best teachers at Goodwood P.S. We sat at dinner tonight talking and laughing about some of the memories my girls have of Goodwood with Mr. Myhal. Silly things that he did in class, things he said, jokes he played on them...things I didn`t know before.... I second everything that Laurie said concerning this wonderful man. This community has just lost one of the BEST Teachers and I'm sure an amazing father and husband as well.I'm so glad that we had the opportunity of having him touch our lives as he did so many. Our hearts go out to the Family. We will always remember.

I was in Mr. Myhal's class this year. He was my grade 6 teacher. He taught my older sisters Sarah, Serena and Charlynne. Sarah is now 25 yrs. old and Charlynne is 14. My brother Carl and Jeniffer was Joshua's EA (education assistant) for a few years. Carl is now 21 yrs old and Joshua is 11. My school (goodwood ps) is going to have a bake sale and we are going to give the money we earn to Mr. Myhal's family. Mr. Myhal was smart, funny, nice, caring, kind and goofy. He would always stand up for me and my other classmates if we were getting picked on or being treated unfair. I got lotsa of therepy when i went to school the following Monday, that helped me out alot. It was really weird going to school the next day and being in the same class that he was in 3 days ago. When i said "Goodbye Mr. Myhal!", i didn't relise that that goodbye was my last. Whenever he got strict with us and yelled he would see that we were not so happy and smile back at us, that cheered me up alot. I hope that Mr. Myhal can rest in peace. I am honored to of been in his last class to teach and i miss him alot!

His student,
Shauna Schwab

Rest In Peace Mr. Myhal!

Goodwood, Ontario

This was my kids first year at Goodwood, and my youngest son was in Mr Myhal's class. The few times that I met with Mr Myhal or spoke to him he was always so very pleasant and approachable. I could tell he was a good man. Joseph, (Joe to Mr Myhal and now to the rest of the school :) has learned so much from him this past year, ESPECIALLY in math! Everytime we spoke he always mentioned his boys. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and he will truly be missed and we are happy to have had the pleasure of meeting such a wonderful, caring teacher. God Bless. Rest in peace Mr Myhal. Hi Bryan

I didn't know how else to reach you so I thought I would try here. I just wanted to say how touching your tribute to Andrew was. It was a beautiful service with so many touching stories about a wonderful man! There were a lot of tears but equally a lot of laughter remembering the good times. On several occasions I would turn to my son and say "do you remember Mr. Myhal doing that in class?" and he would laugh and say yes. So many of the stories of things he did, Ryan remembered....especially the ones of music and dancing...and of course we all remember the Blues Brothers. I really wanted to see you at the service to get a copy of his award winning pickles (in his handwriting, but there were just so many people there. I think our whole community of Goodwood was there to remember and honor him! Can you e-mail me your address so I can send you a SASE to get a copy of it. Thanks so much!
