The Denver, Colorado area and Westminster got pummeled by marble to half-dollar size hail today. (1/2 “ diameter to 1-1/2 “ diameter). One of the worst hail storms I have ever seen here. Constant hail for a full 10 minutes. Usually we get about 1 minute of hail and 10 minutes of rain, but this time it just would not stop.

Thank God for hail netting. The plants would have been a total loss. On the edges around my netting where the hail fell off piled up to 3 feet high! Incredible pictures, a sight to see. I was running underneath the net trying to push hail pockets 2 and 3 feet deep out from my nets where the hail was collecting in low spots. Finally had to cut the nets loose and let it sag to the ground in spots. I could not keep up with mother nature as it piled up hail 4 and 5 feet deep in low pockets.

But, my motto is no leaf left behind. I am glad to say that the netting held its ground, no plants were hurt at all.

This is one of those days that will go down in pumpkin lore for me and my family. I beleive growing pumpkins is as much about the experinces you get to have as it is about getting that big one It’s times like these that make you wonder just how crazy we pumpkin growers really are.

I will post pics as soon as I can.

If anyone from Colorado breaks the state record I will be amazed. The weather sucks. I like it for working but, it's not good for growing
