I have some pics of this white hard powdery substance on the tips of my new growth...secondaries mostly...but a bit on my main as well. It is on both plants...more on the Vincent-McGill....it does appear to be doing some slow damage...turns light brown and has destroyed a few of the little petal things that stick up on the male flowers. I am told it is too early for powdery mildew....any ideas????

Thanks....Bryan

Looks OK to me Bryan. The hairs are a natural means of defense....or am I missing something else?

Hey Tremor...I am not talking about the hairs...but the white crytalized tips that look like frost bite...

This picture shows more of what I am talking about....

Might be the slighest bit of sunburn on the tip. Hard to tell from the picuture. Maybe some shading of the tip of the vine or misting. Sunburn turns leaves gray and dried out on thier edges.

Thanks guys....it is not sunburn as this is primarily on new growth on the secondaries under the the big leaves before they come out....

Thanks for all your thoughts...I am not going to worry about it too much right now...as I have to put my pumpkin growing on the back burner for now

I lost my best friend Andrew Myhal last night...he was 48 and passed very suddenly at home, not sure of exact cause of death yet. He is survived by his beautiful wife Jennifer and three sons Lucas 16, Jacob 14, and Benjamin 7. They are in need of my full attention this week and will need alot of support over the next little while. Life sure has a way of putting things in perspective at times. Take care...
