I just received my first bottle of garlic barrier and the instructions are in question...they say you can add oil, soy, canola, or sunflower, and if you do, you should also add dish soap. Has anyone else done this? Any tips would be welcome here, with shipping and tax the pint bottle came to almost $25.00 and I don't want to waste any. Help?

I add a wetting agent called Coco-Wet to the Garlic Barrier. This is all I add. Good question.....I hope others chime in. I wonder what the purpose of the dish soap is?

I just grow the garlic. It's delicious and the bugs don't bother it. Dish soap helps as a sticker for sprays. I just use it for dirty dishes. I don't think mixing it with any kind of oil would be helpful. Ever notice what it does with oil when washing a greasy pan?

soap is the "spreader" the oil acts as the "sticker",,,make sure you don't use anti-bacterial soap
spreader cuts the surface tension of the material for even distribution, the sticker helps it cling to the leaf for uptake or in the case of the garlic barrier it keeps it on the leaf longer helping provide longer lasting deterant

Go to the store and buy a couple bulbs and grind them up and mix with water. two bulbs for $ 1.00. I make my own and it works great....
