WEnt out to the patch last night and discovered a ton of slugs. must of been that wet spring. I have never had a problem with slugs here at this location.
So what can I use to kill em quick to save my season?
They are everywhere in my patch. So how much should i use and what should i use?

Anything you spray for SVB should thin them out
They love mulch, and they love pumpkins covered with sheets :(
I also use Escar-Go from Gardens Alive and tuna cans buried to rim with an inch of really cheap beer in them.
Make sure you put your fruit on mill fabric, they don't seem to like it much to travel out, unless you make them a hidey by putting a sheet over the fruit. In which case they love to crawl up then chew.

slugs...arggh! Here are some things to fight with:
Pet ducks eat slugs(crows too),copper strips 2 inches wide- 100 % effective but expensive-go to salvage dealer-found in transformers, slugs will not cross it. Metalhyde(sp?) is cheap and effective bait, antifreeze in a dish....beer doesn't work except waste beer, wood ashes from stove applied thickly ,anything sharp...salt(kills plants but you could ring the garden). Hope for dry weather, they lay lots of eggs when it is wet.

Captin, go get a small bag of Merit based stuff, Bayer Complete insect killer for soil and turf is what I used. Apply just like granular fertilizer, and in about 2 days there will be no more slugs. Depsite its name, it does not seem to hurt the worms or other more helpful insects.

CCW, I've used copper coils that are available at some stores. Don't know if you have Lee Valley, but they carry what you need.

I have been using a product called Sluggo for the past 3 years with great success. it is environmentally friendly and is safe for pets and breaks down nicely so it won't hurt your soil. Here is a link....http://www.biconet.com/crawlers/sluggo.html

Be very careful if you use antifreeze as slug bait instead of beer. Pets are attracted to it and it's very toxic. Better off with a drunk dog than a dead one.
