What color is ideal and does it matter? Black, green, tan, white. 30 to 50% is good for my high heat area, but does color matter?

we used a black 30% shade cloth last year here in sc, and it held up great in the high nineties and hundred degree weather. additional misting cant hurt though.

i would think black would draw more heat around the pumpkin. i would want white remay shade, or any light color over the fruit

I had two greenhouses, one covered in black, one in white. The white does a much better job of cooling my house. A little more expensive but If I had to make that purchase again I'd go for white.

i bought some aluminet shade cloth a ways back and only used it during one hot spell for a week and it worked nice in the high 90s and 100 degree days. the reflective silver twisted fibers will reflect some of the 30% blocked light down for some added softer light and also reflects the blocked light upwards to keep the temps cooler while also shading the plants the from the direct scorching sun. results were some burned leafs that were on the outside edges that were not covered by the shadecloth, but all leaves under the cloth never got burned. a misting system was also used at the same time and the hottest temps hit 104 in that week stretch.

I have done business with this outfit. Good service and selection of products. I purcased the White cloth that only blocks 22% sunlight. Their clip on grommets work great.
