I read on-line about letting the MV grow and trimming back the other vines. Can someone tell me something about this. I have four plants and want to do this with two of them. Also, when you bury a vine do you need to cut off the end or just bury it?

You only cut the vine to TERMINATE it. You bury the vines for a couple of reason. It makes the plants harder for insect to get to them. When you bury a vine the vine will root at each leaf node which enturn helps the plant stay put during the wind and the roots also bring more nutrients back into the plant. So unless your ready to DEADEND the vine lets say at the end of the patch, you would only bury it and leave the very end and once that grows out bury alittle more. The more plant you have(leaves) the more your plant is able to obsorb the stuff the pumpkins will need to grow. Hope this helps Chris

Thanks for the input on bury vs terminate and the reason for each method.
