Hi all, I just joined the site and looking forward to see how everything is "growing" lol. I got into Atlantic Giants about five years ago. I lived in Ontario Canada at the time but moved to New Brunswick a couple years ago. I had nowhere to grow when I moved out here but have a yard now so let the growing commence! Anyone from NB on here? Im wondering how big they tend to get here.

Bee. What part of N.B. are you in?? Are you growing this year?? Size here depends largely on the weather.

I am just outside Moncton. I am growing this year but becouse we just moved into the house this spring I never had a chance to get my garden ready last fall. I am counting on 20/20/20 and compost tea, but I am not expecting anything huge this year. I also had to resort to the A.G seed packs at Canadian Tire since I didn't order any seeds since I didn't think we would be in a house by spring. But, it will still be good practice growing them so I will be ready for next year, and even a small giant will be fun for the kids.

I have a plant for you if you are interested. I am on the road to hillsborough. It is my backup plant that started with a club root but took off after I planted the other seed. It is a 475 bourney but the parents are the record holder Jutras and a 1248.

Hi Mighty Bee
Welcome to this crazy hobby. Pumpkins over 1400# have been grown in NB. To get the best results possible I would suggest you join a grower's club like the GVGO (Canada's largest giant pumpkin club). They will provide you with the seeds, the knowledge & the support you need to reach the higher weights. Many growers from your region belong to our club. You get well over 30 packages of seeds from our member's fruit (giant pumpkins, squash, watermelons, LG, tall sunflowers, tomatoes, etc), plus you'll receive 3 high quality newsletters each year filled with info & tips from the top growers in this hobby. There's a website (www.gvgo.ca) with a message board, so you can get answers to any of your questions. Bill Northrup, Elizabeth Steeves & Dennis Daigle are only about an hour from your place. Charles Ebbett (Gardner #1) is likely 3-4 hrs away. All are very good growers.
Email me at [email protected] if your intertested in joining. We wish you all the best this season. Take care & good luck.
Phil
