when applying a contact Pesticide (like Talstar) or fungicide to the plants and then a day or 2 later you get a steady down poor of rain , how long would you guess most pesticides or fungicides will still be effective until it completely washes or wears off?

Would you reapply it again after the rain stops, even if you applied it 2 or 3 days before the rain started?
Thanks, Brooks

If the Talstar drys completely before the rains it will have a normal half life. I believe it is more the ultraviolet that will break it down. I use Talstar and overhead water and have never had an issue. John

Once Talstar has dried it is water fast. That said, if the humidity is climbing in advance of a storm it might not always dry in time. Watch the humidity. Less than 60% is good.
Sunlight is the most degrading factor of bifenthrin & other pyrethroids.
Talstar used to be gauranteed 5 years when used as termiticide but the feds found it lasts for 7 years. Nurserymen use Talstar Nursery (on sand) mixed with the soil media is good for a year. Foliar applications in partial shade (ticks) last 28 days. In full sun we're probably only safe for 2-3 weeks regardless of precipitation or irrigation.

Oh...don't forget that the vines are growing much faster than the chemicals break down. Whether fungicide or insecticide, new growth appears LONG before the effective residual ends. This is why I favor sprayng half strength twice as often as recommended especially during rapid growth phases on young plants.
