last year i thought io was hearing things then i realized the pumpkins were talking to me. they gave me a lot of insight into their likes and dislikes .
so far the plants just humm when i walk by but im hoping once the fruit arrives they becomemore active.
heres a sample of what i heard last year.

the friggin pumpkins gets all the credit while we plants do all the work. then? when she dont need us any longer she rips us outta the ground and throw us in trash heap.

plug your noses girls here he comes with that back pack sprayer again.

why is he always checking my stem? what a freak.

ever since she showed up he stopped paying attention to me

did this guy ever hear of walking on boards?

geez why dont ya just prune me with a machette ?

it was cool last night and we got a nice warm blanket. how come she only got a sheet? i guess size does matter.

what are your plants and pumpkins tellin you?

I hear a lot of chatter from the back-up plants right before I am going to pull them:

"No really, I'll be good from now on, I promise!"

"Dont do it mister! I will see you in Hell!!!!"

"I suppose you just kill all things weak and punny. You Monster!"

Somehow I get past it all and get down to just my keeper plants. But I do lie awake at night wondering what hell is going to be like!

mine say, "treat me right and we will take down georgie boy together for a clean crisp hundo and maybe with enough hard work you can maybe win the belt this year from gene and then you can wear the igpga belt while running naked down plainfield road in joliet the night after the weigh off, but also beware of the likes of illinois grower extrordinaire and state record holder joe richards and second year grower tyson naylor who went over 1000 lbs his first year last year, and judy barenie is due for a monster soon so you better keep at it shazzy you fat ass."

yep, my plants also talk too much, with run on sentences mixed in with vulgarities and absurd notions. but i must admit, i like the cut of their jib. lol.

pap, I've been watching the trend of your posts with a little trepidation. But now your really starting to worry me. Especially since what you seem to have also appears to be contagious. I've decided to wear earplugs now when I go out to the patch just to be on the safe side.

I just thought that the other day, I looked at it right up close, I sware it turned and looked at me and said, yeah I'm going to grow a giant pumpkin it turned back and kept growing, I felt like I stopped the daytona 500 or something. They also said not quite so much food at meal time, and they said they really like the smorgusborg of food selection I provide them with. Then they looked again and said "Rich, get off the drugs/alcohol" then they kicked my butt out of there growing area. I thought sheeesh, demandit these giants are.

My plants say we got shazzy beat... We don't need the help, but all the high winds and hail are blowing threw Joliet this year. There is nothing he can do to stop it. Just drink more Bud and regret you even planted this year.

Yeah, mine are saying enough already with these temperature swings. When I planted them, it was 80 plus, now we had frost warning last night. What, now I get shop lights for warmth? Hmmm, you want me to grow in what conditions? High winds yesterday, freezin cold for the last day of May. Where is Summer? High of 60's this week. YUCK! I talk to them and tell them they will be protected, and will be fed proper, their job is to grow! OH yeah and grow a giant one.

I actually read a book about how plants canread your mind and other plants stuff that you would never believe. I might try to finish reading it this summer but it is very boring even tho it has good info. Lots of big words to. Some my english teachers couldn't understand.

all is well on the I-80 corridor georgie boy and the plants say thank you for your concern. had that one cell blow up yesterday right on top of us but the full strength of the storm hit about 5 to 10 miles down the road with wind and hail. the plants would have told me to put up the shade cloth if they knew hail was coming. lol.
