Anyone got experiance growing a big fruit to the End with that?
I growed a 998 Pukos with that -07.
I pinched off the seeds outside the blossom and growed it to 1175 lbs.
My question is was it a lucky strike, or does it use to get you in problem, by splitting in the blossom end later in the season?

Generally speaking I don't believe many folks are able to set fruit on flowers that have seeds in the blossom. Are you saying that you did & grew the resulting fruit to 1175?

I've grown 2 fruit that had seed in the blossum, my 1175.5 in '06 when I didn't know any better and culled wrong.
My 1313 last year had 1 seed and I grew it out do to timing and lack of females.
The 1175.5 had a sunken top which I think was the result of poor lobe developement because the lobe was bad that had the seeds. The 1313 had one small.short rib that ended up fine but more than likely came from that one seed and the obvious weak lobe in the blossum.

I doubt there would be any damage relayed to the blossum ends,,,more trouble with bad lobes and weak areas.

In speaking with Thad Starr, I got the impression that his 1528 from last year had seeds in the blossom. This is why the blossom end was sunken. He he said that the fruit looked good on the inside.

learn something everyday, first time I have heard of growing these type pumpkins to big weights. I always thought seeds that show up in the blossom end was doomed from the start.Looks like this isn't the case like most of us has thought. Thanks for sharing the info.

The 1175 i growed had a very sunken in blossom end.
Another thing i been thinking of is if deformed lobes and seeds outside blossom usually are on almost every female on the plant or if its only on some vines??

when given a choice i prefer to cull the pumpkin with deformaties and go with something more traditional.
amazing that these freaks could produce a sound pumpkin.
personally? ill continue to cull so long as i have others to choose from.

I agree Dick,,if I had my druthers I won't select a deformed female as a first choice

The 1528 did have seeds in the blossom. Thad told me that two weeks ago. He said that he almost picked the blossom but decided to wait to see if he got a better female farther down the vine. He was glad he did pollinate that one because he didn't get a good one after it and the fact that he got a 1500+ pounder didn't hurt his feeling either.

My 1297 plant last year produced only seeds in blossom females. Main vine,secondaries...didn't make any difference.
