I have heard of lots of folks using electric fence to keep racoons out of sweet corn. I would think it would work just fine. You want to use at least 3 strands of wire

If you get a live catch trap that is big enough for a racoon and use marshmellows for bait, you can catch them. Once caught you can either shoot them or drive them at least 10 miles away and let them go. Be sure to tie the marshmellows to the trap pan.

I use an electric fence. You need to keep the bottom wire low enough so they can't crawl under it. The next wire has to be close enough to the bottom one so they can't crawl between them and high enough that they can't just step over them. For deer, you need 6 wires and go 6' high. You need to keep the weeds and grass off the wires so they don't short out. Still, when the sweetcorn is about 2 days away from being ready the coons will try to get in. A little fox or coyote uring sprinkled around will usually deter the onew that will brave the electricity.

I have used a electric fence for the past 6 years, never had a problem with anything I have grown.(knock on wood).
I use 4 strands. The 2 strands I use down low one is 2 inches off the ground and the one above it is about 6 to 8 inches off the ground. Only thing that could be a pain in the butt is the grass that grows into the lower wire, so all I do is spray weed killer below the strands about 3 times during the season and that pretty much takes care of it.

Hi, I have bought a removeabe electric fence. Its a turbo wire 4 x 4 netting. I had terrible problems with the raccoons etc. Try calling Rural Manufacturing 605/925-7135. They are very reasonable, fast in shipping and I have been amazed at how wonderful it works and is flexible to what ever dementions you might need. It is easy to set up and maintain and stores well when you are not using it.
