i noticed that there is a small and barely noticeable tear on my first true leaf. I havede absolutely no contact with it, so what could've done it?

Wind a bug lots of things but its no big deal at all. Youll have many more leaves a coming.

Sam, you will have enough to worry about once the plant hits about 500 to 1000 sq ft. You will look back at this post and laugh once you have 75 leaves with tears, splits, and what ever else to take care of on your plant,,lol. Best thing I found to do is just let em grow and not worry about the little things.

sounds like the dreaded grim ripper visited your plant.
( its a tiny green/blue flying bug that when it rubs up against the leaf will put a tare in it )
i hope its not that purdy green leaf you mentioned in a later post? bummer
