How early should we start fertilizing with foliar feeding stuff, like neptunes fish or fish and seaweed ferts?
also, how soon should i start fungiciding and insecticiding?
obviously before i see any diseases or insects.
I am wondering because even though my hoops are open during the day, i dont want to burn the plants while i have them closed at night still.
thanks

just looked at your diary pics, with plants that size I drench with the fish and seaweed the first couple apps, try to circle the plant just outside of the newest roots,,coax them to grow for it. As the leaves reach mature size then consider foliar if the plant looks like it needs something.
at this point I have drenched with Merit shortly after planting and will reapply around the 1st week of June. If you see insect ativity my policy is to first apply Garlic Barrier, if that doesn't work then Neem oil,,,last resort chemical. Apply at 1/2 strength early evening and stay off the smaller leaves and growing tip.
Fungicides to the plant itself I keep an eye out but usually don't start that program until July,,,weather related more than anything for me.

Dan, where do you get your garlic barrier?, I want to try that stuff this year and see how well it does on the cukes. I bought my neem at Lowes last year but dont think they sell the garlic barrier, maybe Wally World sells it?.

Garlic barrier works early when the bug population is low, but when the main batch hatches, it's not effective enough to control them all. We've used it for two years with limited success.
