I notice some growers are having root maggot problems and just wanted to share the best cure I've found for them. Beneficial Nematodes. They have a tooth and move through the soil, actively seeking-out and destroying 230 insect pests. Try them on lawn grubs once and the best part is they last all season. I wouldn't have a patch without them.

Are they Obama supporters? Its hard to indict an insect, you may have figured out a way to fill Giethners staff.

Jack, great idea, but in order for the nematodes to survive in the soil or wake up, I read the soil needs to be around 60 degrees. Corn seed maggots hatch at less then 50 degrees. so not sure if that will work, unless they feed off the eggs during the warmer time of the year. But this could be a solution to these nasty critters . I gotta hand it to ya on this post, you finally made some good sense.JK,,lol. thanks for the input.

Get Back Jack! Thanks for the idea. I was looking for a reason to put on a holster with one of those syringes containing a few million nematodes. I was lucky to find a friend hanging on to a gallon of diazinon. I think the stuff is working for me. I hate maggots!
