How far away should my tomatos be from my p-kin plants? Tomatos are new to my garden this year, BUT I don't want to do anything that is going to effect the pumkins. I got four pumpkin plants that look great and I don't want to do anything that will inhibit them.

Thank you,
Mark G.

Plant at the far corners of the patch, or if you have the stump at one side or corner, the two or three corners farthest away.

I had no problems last year with planting the corners of my patch... but the weather was too hot to get the tomatoes to set.

I grew a 1450 and a 1096 back to back "@ 8 ft. between them" with a tomato in the middle. I never got to see how big those pumpkins could have gotten because they went down due to splits, the 1450 at @503 lbs., the 1096 was grown off a secondary and split at @723 pounds.

The tomato plant produced the Ohio State record at 4.48 pounds.

Remember Eddy Z's report on maters near pumpkins? Something about giving off gases when ripe that make pumpkins (possibly) ripen too.
