The great freeze of the east in western new york seems to be abating. After two nights, one in teens other in 20's it appears ma nature will be turning up the thermostat. It has been a difficult year to keep the hoops warm.. Not whining.. just an observation. I hope my fellow WNY growers are weathering the cold ok! I will have to put in a few backups, but hey a nice summer can make up for a few cold days.
One good news, soil with amendments did test perfect( well close.. lol). Lets hope the soil improvements make a big difference. Thanks Andy for ordering the humic and kelp for us. Have a great day! Bill P

Yep, better late than never, a long time coming for this nice weather too. My plants will be hitting the ground tonight. I also started two each of my own seeds from last year last night. Just in case. Finally, Summer Like weather. Good luck and have a great day!

Bill, I am quiet surprised at how well my plants are growing for only being in the ground for 2 weeks now and the cold nights. I guess my hoops and heating cables really do help.
I believe 4 frost advisorys here in the last 8 days.
The next 3 days are supposed to be sunny but breezy, so i wont be able to fully open the hoops as i dont want these 4-5 leaf creatures to blow away.
Good Luck all!!!!!!

Hello New Yorkers - Half (10) of my plants hit the ground today. I started them on 5/7 and most are 3-4 leaf. No hoops or heating cables so hopefully no frost or high winds. I'm hoping to improve on my pb of 1119 last year but lost my best seeds to chipmunks. Hoping for a nice warm, wet summer - I'll take a repeat of last year. I grow for shape and color so starting later than most works great for me.
