yesterday at the wallace farm the sngpg held a spring meet and greet.
what a surprizingly great turnout considering the cooler damp weather.

ron gave a lecture for the new growers, joe jutras gave out long gourd plants and also lectured on the subject.
all new growers receiveda dt-2 booklet as a gift from the club and oaf

free pumpkin plants wre given to anyone needing them, plus a bonus of canadian big boy tomato plants started by growers jeff blais and mike parenty.

fresh popcorn, steamed dogs, cookies, candy, chips, soda, beer (of course ) etc, kept everyones taste buds satisfied as well.

there were plenty of successful growers to mingle with the new growers as well.we had in attendance many world and new england champions to also share information and suggestions.
a great time was had by all

the attendance at our new england summer picnic and patch tour on august 17 th should be a real hum-dinger.if you cant find a vetern grower to rub elbows with at this function ? you not looking hard enough.-lol

I'm so *bummed* I couldn't make it, but as I told Joe when I called, y'all are too many states away :(

Glad everyone had a blast. Need to post a few pics???

We are preparing the photo update now. It will be emailed to everyone in a day or two. The pic's of Pap working the Popcorn machine and trying to cook hotdogs are priceless. We'll have to give him an easier assignment next year.

Yea OkieGal I second that, I guess when you live in a state with only 5 growers that's just the breaks.

Big thank you to the Wallaces for hosting the event and to everyone who pitched in to put on a great seminar and tour. It was so generous of you all to share your time and knowledge with those new to the sport. And the presence of heavy hitters (especially in the cold wet conditions) just reinforced the mentoring spirit that is so unique to what we do. You really outdid yourselves!

Dunno about you Pat, but I am a PIF member, and they hadda hold it a couple or six states away :) Looking forward to seeing the pics....

Now Pat, you gotta come to our weighoff, just finishing up the paperwork and deciding on the tithe level. Offical this year... if you can keep it together that long with the duct tape :) 17 Oct.
