Over a week and my other 4 1689x1502's never sprouted. This is just great. Now I'll have to use a 1502x1502 as my main plant when it was going to be my pollinator. This really pisses me off. Was it bad seed or what? I did everything by the book and not ONE of the five seeds grew. Does anyone know how to tell if a seed will still sprout or not by digging it up and examining it?

Sam, what seed didn't sprout? Your 1689 Jutras seed? Or a seed with the 1689 x 1502 genetics in it?,,, Whats the name and weigh of seed you was trying to germinate?

Good question Brooks!!

Sam, I've never had to dig up 1 seed to examine it....they either sprout....or they do not. Kind of late now...do you have some in the ground by now??

It's my 400 Langevin seeds (it s a 1689 jutras x 1631.5 mckie cross, i accidently typed 1502 in the wrong spot up there) i have 5 1502 wallace x self seeds that I was originally going to use for polination, but it looks like I'm going to have to use them as my main plant now. This really pisses me off, that perfect cross wasted. Could it been me that did something wrong, or was it just bad seed? I'm guessing the latter, considering that not 1 of the 5 sprouted. the seeds looked pretty sickly too before I even put them in the ground (some were kind of curly, had a weird color, and even black splotches). What a waste of money. The other seeds (1502xselfs) look ok to me, so let's hope to god that these ones turn out ok. You guys still think I have a chance at a monster considering I'm a week behind?

Not the seeds fault! Or the growers! @#%^ Happens! I had a 1102 pukos with genes from the infamous 998. Guess what? My other five have took off like hell and it grew one cot and is showing no signs of a first true leaf! Bad seed? Probably not, just nature culling out the competitors for your new world record that you will weigh in some time in Sept. or Oct.

Chin up my man!!

you can get more than 600pound growth in a month, if you are a week or two late, no worries, there is a lot of time for you to get the world record. I planted mine a few weeks ago, and the chickens got to them, so i started new ones 4 days ago. I don't figure i have a snow balls chance to grow a world record in my city lot. Just try again, you can still get over 1,000 lbs with some luck.

I've had a mixed bag this year with sprouting.... so could be many reasons why or why not they didn't sprout. A lot of others are having strange problems too.

Sam I have the same seeds and did not have much luck with them either. The one I did get to come up appears to be a dud. I also had trouble with the reverse cross out of the langevine 900. Luckily everything else I planted did fine.
