Subject: Shelf life of mycorrhizae?

Anyone know for sure how long it is good for? Does the product ever "go bad" to the point where you should not use it or run the risk of damaging your plants? This is kind of an important question...if you know what I mean!

From what I have read the fungi is 100% viable for a period of two years then begins to decline.
I don't think using it after that period would harm your plants, it would be just dead spores in an inert medium.

From what I have read YES there is viability in the product you are getting......and some products do not contain what maybe advertiZed......

Mycorrhiza has a 2 yr shelf life. Any reputable reseller will have an expiration date printed on the lable.

Agree with Tom re expiration date. One other point: Mycorrhizae should not be stored where it is exposed to freezing or extreme heat.

Even if it was stored incorrectly for a very long time the inoculant cannot harm your plants.

Have heard from several folks that exposure to direct sunlight is a NO NO!! True or not??? Peace, Wayne

Direct sunlight will kill it. I did spread it over my whole patch in the evening just before sunset this year and then tilled it in.
