Just wondering from those that grew it was the 1385 a little more stubborn than others about germinating.

I'll be patient with her. This is the first season I haven't used the paper towel & baggie method, just soaked-filed & placed in pot on 5/3. My 664 has popped up thru the soil but the 1385 hasn't shot a root yet. Seeds still in great shape so I just gently took it from pot & placed it in the paper towel, it should be ok. Sometimes the stubborn ones end up giving you the biggest pumpkins.

this year, no problem with the 1385. it was above dirt in 3.5 days. last year, no luck at all. i tried for over 10 days then dug it up and opened it up to find a full seed, but no sign of life. and that was the only one not to pop last year out of 30 plus seeds i germianted for myself and other growers.

Germinated in 36 hours here, but also with only one cot. It's coming along, but my Rodonis 1161 is doing better.

Mine came up in three days. Checked my plants this morning and maggots got the 1385. I hope and pray none of my other plants get hit. I guess you learn the hard way to start 4-5 backups.

Mine took 42 hrs to germinate(sprout) (then to dirt), which was a lot slower than my other 9 (except for the 904 Stelts). However, it is currently doing very well and starting to vine. (started on 4/15)...now just has to survive the frost tonight here in MN! ;-).

i think if you plant that many of any one seed stock you will find a few odd balls in the group. the 1385 will quite possibly be the hottest battle tested seed in growers patches this year. with that many of the same seed stock started your bound to have a few misses. ps-- i was just kidding about our 1385 seed starts and had not intended to mislead anyone. both are excellent specimines.

Well it was in the pot from Sunday morning till Friday evening & when I took it out nothing had happened yet. Seed still looked good so Saturday afternoon I placed it in a paper towel in a unsealed baggie. Sunday night still nothing but the seed coat was starting to get soft & slightly discolored. Took drastic action & removed seed coat completely & just layed the embryo on a wet paper towel in a baggie. Just checked the 1385 & root tip has shot out & is taking off so I placed it back in the pot. Thank goodness.

Seed came up in three days, but had 40 mph wind storm that tore apart the hoophouse. The flying plastic just flattened the plant to 1" tall. That was on May 5th....it is just now developed another main vine and the leaves are coming out. Pretty tough plant!
