That poor plant must be seriously root bound. Start a new one now.

January is early. Unless you were experimenting with the plant to see how it grows inside. I would think it would be rootbound in the pot by now, and really needing more room. Where are you storing it? My guess is not enough room, and not enough water.

This is a good time to start seeds now !! 3-5 days after they pop the starter mix they should be ready for ground! much more than that is not good !

If a plant is under stress it will abort it's young that is the reason you can not pollinate a female flower. The small pot it is in is not enough room for the roots to grow and seek out nutrients in the soil. Start some seeds right now and plant them outside in a prepared garden bed. a general rule of thumb for growing AG's is to have the baby seedling in the ground by May 15th. anything earlier then a week before the 15th if your not putting up a shelter and heating the soil is to early.

There is a boat load of information on this site. What I did when i first started was read the growers diary's to find out what they were doing and what is working for them. you can check out my Giant pumpkin growing blog, I have a growing basics page on there with some good info on there to get you off to a good start.

Did you hand pollinate? There is probably not to many bees in the house.

i think its time to transplant from the pot into one of those cut in half wooden flower barrels.then grow it up a tree trunk or something.

Your trying to grow a Giant sequoia tree in a thimble. It's got to be able to spread it's roots and run so fast it drags the pumpkin to death.

whats a giant sequoila tree?? sounds interesting! u all are so sweet answering me and teaching me so much! i had so many seeds to start but they grew mold and that upset my boy friend to no end, i wanted to put them in the fridge but he thought i was trying to poison him, so i gave in and composted them just before the snow. i saved one. its my baby, cut in half wooden barrels is the best plan, for sentimental reasons. i have pics of it on my grower diary.
