I joined this pumpkin patch back last winter. Started reading and reading. Just about any quesiton that could be ask has all ready been ask here. And I thank everyone for all the imput you have shared.

My thing is, I joined the NCGVG and have yet to meet Sambo. I received a packet of seeds and decided to plant the ones from Sambo's pumpkins. A couple days ago,I had a few questions, sent him a email and got the answer I needed. Then today I get a bubble in the mail with Long Gourd seeds in it. Now I have never personally met Sambo, hopefully I will this year sometime. But for him to be so kind hearted in helping out this rookie really surprised me. I have read post on here where others have been just as helpful. And I be danged if I know of a place that is so family oriented and freely share information with everyone.

I just wanted to say, Thank you Sambo! And thank you everyone else.

This is one of the neatest forums I have ever been a part of.

Now when it stops raining I got to get my gourd frame built....

Welcome from the Buckeye state Ted. This is indeed the greatest information-sharing forum in the world if you're hooked on growing big. God help you if you are.

There are other message boards here on BP.com where things can get a little testy, opinionated, and downright insulting. Just keep in mind that you are free to ignore what you wish. Most people simply take it in stride and, in the end, we all leave still friends.

Sam drove up to the Virginia Growers winter meeting as the guest speaker...Sam is sharpe as a tack and knows what he is talking about.plus Sam is one heck of a nice guy...

Teddy, you will meet a lot of nice people on this website. Sambo is definitely one of them. Living half a country away I have never met him either, but I am also growing pumpkins and long gourds from his seeds. He is a great person, as are most of the people on this site.
