Ok, so next time I will be a little more careful where I sink my pointed shovel into the ground . . . LOL!
Has anybody soldered these cables back together?
Mine has a gray outer coating wrapped around a red coating inner coating. There is wire wrapped around the outside the red coating. Within the red inner coating there are two separate wires separated by the red coating itself.
Can I just solder the two wires to the matching wires of the other end of the cable, wrap them in electrical tape and call it good or is there something more then meets the eye here?
Any help would be great!

It has to be sealed tightly or it will ground out. Silicone maybe.

use rubber shrink tube, put the shrink tube down over the fix and heat it , it will shrink the tube tight and weather proof it over the cable. I used it a lot on underground cable lines (RG-6 cable). You can buy it it any hardware store like Lowe's, etc.

First, Id cut about a half inch of the rubber off the cable, leaving about a half inch of the copper showing on each cable, and twist the right colored coded lines back together. but make sure you have the shrink tube put on right so no water seeps in.

You may have already burnt out the built in fuse. Check that 1st.
