Ok, I think I see your problem, "and put water in the bags"....If you have put water in the bags with the seeds it's not gonna work...SOAK the seeds for 8 hours or so in water THEN put the seeds in a folded up paper towel then place the towel in a zip loc bag WITH NO WATER. If I was you I would take them out of the water and place them in paper towels and then place in bags. I hope this works..

Hi, I have used the old school method of planting seeds on seed starting mix with a heating pad on Medium & plastic over the top of the pot until it sprouts. I have had always had good luck with this method. If you are not cheap like me you can buy a germination mat for about $25.00- $30.00.
There is a good article if you do a search for seed starting. It is called Seeds Starting- One Method.

Richard, don't panic yet, they can take up to 10 days in some cases.

I would definitly not wait 10 days for a seed Richard. No offence hoots but after 4-5 days i'm filing the edges of some more.Check out the heat , Check out the moisture . All my seeds came up in 2-3 days. Heatin mat and saran wrap is all i use. Good luck Carl.

i put mine in plastic baggie with paper towel added some water (about 4 tablespoons). placed on heating pad that was wrapped with large bath towel. fold towel in 1/2 then in 1/2 again place heating pad in middle. 2 layers over top and bottom of heating pad. set it on low put temperature gauge on top 75 degrees steady. started on 4-22. placed in soil today 4-25. also filed sides.

You know, God intended for seeds to grow when put in the soil. Some uf us still believe this is the best and most reliable method. The only problem we ever had was with a batch of seeds I stored in the house. They were all older, but otherwise not sure what the issue was, but not one of them germinated. Had plenty of others though.
Baum, place your seeds in the peat pot and wait 4-6 days and you should see a sprout or at least see the soil move!

I think my dang Mat must be broken its running hot and on a tile floor. The Mat temp says its close to 100 but the soil temp in the pots is at about 85 degrees. I guess Ill have to figure somenthing out or get a new mat asap.

I took mine out of the baggie and put them in pots, one is comming up and the other I'm pretty sure is also.

If the seeds were sitting in water, they are likely dead. SCTROOPER is right. The paper towel should be barely damp.

If you want to use the baggie method, read this:
