This is a bad way to start a season, but our well went dry yesterday (April 17th), and it is going to be awhile to get it fixed, which means, the plants I got started aren't going to make it. So here is what I have that is up and going and needs a happy home, if anyone wants one, call me or email me and we can figure something out.

Keeps the grass green, but no water in the well yet. You have any interest in any of these plants? I got them up an going, I just am not going to be able to grow without water this year, so instead of letting them die, I am hoping someone may want to plant one.

When i was a kid we used to plant pumpkins and just let em go. not much watering. that was during a huge drought in ks when iwas young.

I also used to capture our bathing water and used that.

The 1290 sounds awesome but then I would have to discard my seedlings and I don't have transpo right now anyway. Offer them free on Craigslist, I got rid of my extras doing that last year. Good luck.

They CAN be expressed overnight....

Dang on the well going ralf. Praying you get a serious chunk of moisture in your water table.... maybe the well might need deepening because the water table dropped?

Still dang.

They well guy told me, that we would have to dig another well that is deeper, I guess you can't just dig a current one deeper, you have to start a new one.

I like the 1255 also, that was my favorite, the 1142 that pollinated it, was the one that grew the 1536.5

If someone wants to pay the shipping I will ship them, I am not looking for anything in trade, all the seeds have come from the growers themselves, naturally I would send a seed back if I wasn't going to grow it, but it is growing now.

You might not be able to water them all but maybe could still plant a couple of them great plants,,,If ya have a 55 gallon barrel, try catching some rain water in it from your roof, or maybe if you have a creek somewhere close by you could get some water that way,,, ya still have plenty of time left since April showers bring May flowers. Hope these ideas help ya out.

We only get about 10 inches of rain a year here, and most of it in the winter, I am catching rain water and I might try one plant, that isn't a bad idea.

Keep them amazing Vankooten seeds in Canada if you can.

If there is a special cross that you were planning maybe keep a couple of plants and keep going. The end result may be a small fruit but a good cross is a good cross, weight means nothing. I'm with Carl, those Van Kooten seeds could lead to your PB, best of luck to you.

The (2) 1290's, the 1142, and the 1347 are all spoken for, the rest are still available. I talked with my daughter and she wants to grow her 171 and try her own seed this year, so we are going to keep that one and try and prove our own seed, but the rest are available.

Really sorry to hear about that. Couldn't you go ahead and hand water with a watering can for a month while the plants are still small until you can get the well fixed? I really loved seeing Mckenna on the stand last year.

We are going to keep McKenna's going, the main thing is we have to haul all the water we use for the house in now, I don't have the money to fix the well, so unless they will do a payment plan we will have to wait. And isn't life funny, I slipped and fell on the stairs today and broke a toe. Can't do anything but laugh at this point.

I know what your saying... In the last three weeks I totaled my car, bought a new one smashed that one this week, had the wahing machine blow up, got a dump truck with 18 tons of compost stuck in the mud and had to pay an extra $300 to yank it out. I wanted to lock myself in the closet!

You wont need much water until June....will it be fixed by then?

I agree with Tom. You won't need much water until mid-June. You want the roots to go looking for water. That way you'll have a much bigger root system. You could also collect a lot of water from your roof in 50 gal drums.

Hey John, sorry to hear of your luck. I'm glad to hear you didn't get hurt in the car crashes.

I have no idea on when we can get our well fixed, I think I am going to try 2 plants and hopefully cross pollinate them if I can keep them alive. I talked to the well company and they said that once they come and drill the well, they will bill me at the end of the month, then I have 30 days to pay in full. So I pretty much need to have most of the money secured before they come. Ah, the adventures of life.

Thanks Phil! Luckily I wasn't hurt...you can always fix a car
Pastor, I was thinking maybe you could get a "water tanker" company to come over and fill a few totes of water. You could probably find some totes that someone is giving away for free. They hold around 1000Kg of water each (the ones with the metal cage around them). I see trucks like this all the time watering city owned flower beds and flowers at Mcdonalds and stuff like that. Check out the Yellow Pages or Super Pages.

I hit the water jackpot, I had a guy offer me a perfectly good 1,000 gallon tank for free, to keep. So now we wont have to haul water every day, and I will have some for the pumpkin.

Life gets even better and God is good. I had a friend call today and he is sending me a check to get a new well. It sounds like we may have a well again within a week or two, so I may be back in the game.
