The Pumpkinguru

Cornelius, Oregon

Largest OTT is still the Checkon 1469 at 441 inches I believe.

Brett's correct; the 1469 holds the ott record at 441", which predicted a weight of 1788lbs. These days, you can see several 420" pumpkins at a single weigh-off.

The heaviest one that I can think of is the 706 Knauss, which was about 40% heavy.

It's official: Pennsylvania is the greatest state in pumpkindom

It was grown on the 1354 checkon, I was thinking of growing it next year and crossing it with my seed from this year which will be 1314 Beauchemin x 340 Beauchemin, it will have more 898 Knauss in it then the 898 Knauss has in it.

Awsome is that if a pumpkin the volume of the 1469 were to go 12% heavy the 1 ton mark would be met already.

The Wiz is right, we'll see a 1 ton pumpkin... just wait til my bobier project with the 1354, 1407 Wolf, 805 Pukos, and 720 Rose is complete

The 1354 might break 1 ton itself if it sees more dirt, it has grown other pumpkins that were around 10% heavy. Since so many people were willing to make the gamble on the 1068 splitting, then I don't know why they wouldn't give the 1354 shot... all the genes are there, but we haven't seen them come together in one pumpkin. If there had been more rain in pennsylvania in 2005, who knows what could have happened. It's too bad that the 1354's first impression lasted.

I hope that Joe Jutras will plant another 1354 or one of his 1130 seeds that was a 1354 Checkon x 998 Pukos (grew 1689). It would not surprise me to see the 1130 grow several 2000 pound pumpkins.
